Four pieces for Ensemble Venezuela
A suite of four pieces for mixed ensemble exploring four Venezuelan folk music genres: joropo, merengue, vals and gaita. As recorded on the album Venezuelan Suite.
“Venezuelan Suite is pianist Edward Simon's love letter to his homeland, but that's not all it is; it's the perfect confluence of Venezuelan ideals, jazz language and chamber-esque sophistication. In short, it's a masterpiece.” — Dan Bilawsky, All About Jazz

Pere is a Latin tune in 5/4 time that is really fun to play. A great opportunity to work on the 5/4 "clave"! I recorded it on Afinidad (Red Records, 2001) and it is featured on Paquito D’Rivera’s Grammy Award winning Funk Tango (Paquito Records, 2007). Parts included: Piano, Alto Sax, Bass, Drums, Percussion (optional) and Trumpet
As recorded by Afinidad on the album "Oceanos".
This download includes the score, parts and reference track. Parts included: piano, acoustic bass, acoustic guitar, steel-string guitar (optional), alto sax, bass trombone, combined guitar, drums, mezzo-soprano, trombone 1, trombone 2, trumpet 1 and trumpet 2. Also included is a special guitar part that can be used for live performances when there is only one guitar player available and can be played using acoustic and electric guitars.
